Two WIP - Done!

Yay! And I started another project - the Lionbrand Curtain Call Shrug last night!

Here is my wrap sweater....sorry, the details on the whole thing are not clear...I'm wearing it, but it's dark. Chopped head = hair not done and no makeup...sorry! :) It is a bad picture...but for posterity....it's done! lol

And the Cameron Scarf for Karen is finished, too!

Suz's FO: Orca tail scarf

Done! Love it! I have just enough leftover Silk Garden to make a fish for the phantom blanket.

Tami's New WIP

I frogged the pink angel hair Dew Drop scarf. The pattern is beautiful. The yarn is beautiful. The both together? Not so beautiful. Yarn wasn't showing off the pattern to it's best advantage at all. So, I am using this pattern: http://http://www.smallknits.com/angus%20angular%20scarf.htm and the picture is how it looks so far. Pattern and yarn are better matched, now.

I also sewed in the first sleeve on the wrap sweater I am working on from a knitting magazine pattern. I cast on for the second sleeve and am almost 1/2 done with that one. (sorry, the lighting isn't conducive to the pic you see below)
And then the third thing I started this weekend is this scarf for my sister, Karen: http://http://www.wolfandturtle.net/Yarnpath/index.php/Yarnpath/the_cameron_scarf/

I'm keeping myself very busy, lol.....

A couple UFOs

I know this could be a lot worse, but these few things have been hanging over me for too long. This is the first thing I ever knitted, and I frogged it this afternoon. I never got around to lining it, and never missed it...so off it goes. That Kathmandu tweed can now become some other lovely object.

Next, there is the second thing I knitted: a striped, felted bag. Except that it's still in pieces and not felted. The sad thing is that I actually want to use it.

This is a smaller Aran bag, which needs a lining and to be sewn together. This is the third bag from that particular book that is unfinished...see a theme?

I also have one lonely Fetching, who is useless without it's mate. How 1950s of me. I messed up the picot bind off, so I need to redo that too.

All of these things could be done in a weekend...but do you think I will?

WIPs from Suz...orca tail scarf, a lion and fish

The other night, I started the Noro orca tail scarf from Oceanwind Knits, with the two balls of Silk Garden from the stash.

I'm also working up a Lionel for Cleo. I know she doesn't look too much like a lion. My little boy doesn't care, though! I started her when shaping seemed way too complicated, so her son will have to look the same way. I'm using the Any Yarn Teddy pattern. No progress pic, because it's just a square of tan yarn. I'm hoping I have enough yarn...or I will have to buy more and I'll be obligated to make more lions.

And finally, the fish blanket. I'm not sure whether this is a UFO or WIP at this point, but it haunts me. After I finish a couple other things, this will have to be my full-time project. The camera dulled the colors a bit...the fish are dark purple, red and of course, yellow.

My Dew Drop Scarf in the works

With the pink JoAnn Sensations Angel Hair yarn. I think to make it long enough, I will be using both skeins, so that will be two stash busters!
Very easy pattern to work with and it knits fast. I am using size 8 needles, I didn't want it to be really wide. As it is, it measures about 7" across, so anything wider and I probably would not like to wear it.

WIP: Seed Stitch Jacket

I had five hanks of cream Burly Spun which I bought for what I thought was going to be my first sweater (the Lion Fisherman shrug). I went to a lot of trouble to find the right yarn for that sweater, and out of it all I will end up with a very fuzzy poncho (that rose poncho in Yukon) and now a bulky cardigan hoodie. That first pattern was a bad choice...even with more experience, I don't think the end result will be worth the trouble even though I like the way it looked.

This is a pic from the magazine, Vogue Knitting Winter 2004/2005

I have the body and half of one sleeve done. I'll probably need to block it into shape before I sew it together since I still suck at seaming.

Here's the Manos scarf that I made for myself, using the Yarn Harlot One Row pattern. I love this thing, and I am so glad I didn't return the yarn. The one end looks a lot lighter in the pic, but in real life you can't tell when I am wearing it. If I did it again, I would alternate rows from the different hanks to blend it together. It doesn't bother me enough to do it over, though.

Suz's yarn...what the heck am I going to do with it all?

I'm not even sure I counted it all! I know there is some lurking in weird places around the house, and I'm not even sure where else to look. It could be worse, right? No pics tonight -- the camera battery is shot. When it's charged, I'll get some pics of the UFOs and my first and biggest (volume-wise) stashbuster WIP.

Tami's Stash Rules

I think I'll try to abide by Suz's rules, too. Makes perfect sense. I also need to vow not to buy any more baby yarns (for God's Tiny Angels) until I am waaaaay down on that supply. But unless I need new yarn for a certain project and I don't have anything comparable....I will not buy anymore until I am way low on existing stash! I'll try to take some pictures and log what I have in my first stash bin, tonight and do that tomorrow. For today, though, I have a picture of my first stash-busting washcloth. Done in Sugar 'n Cream yarn in a fern pattern I found on the intranet, here is the almost finished washcloth. I will replace w/ the finished picture tomorrow, because it is done, already, but I didn't take a pic of it. I have started a yellow Sugar 'n Cream washcloth, too, in a butterfly wings pattern that I will show w/ the first one. Used w/ stash!!!!

Suz's stash rules, just for Suz's stash

Ok, here we go. This is the first step in the inventory...the inventory of goals, projects in various stages, and of course, the yarn.

My stash isn't out of control, but I swore to myself that I wouldn't have more than one large container of yarn at a time. Even stretching it by distributing it to various project bags, it's overflowing it's designated space.

So here are my rules which I am trying to live by, until I see something I simply can't live without.

I need to use up only what I have, with the following exceptions:

1. Gifts for people. People who aren't me.
2. Socks. I am learning to knit socks this year, and I'm sure I'll need yarn to do that.
3. Works already in progress. Specifically, the fish blanket for the little guy. I need 180 fish. I have 20. I will need more yarn.

Next, the yarn inventory.
